Wear Red Day

Hello and happy Friday!  This is my second day back from Belize and let me tell you, I'd much rather be lounging on the beach than dealing with this cold weather!  Haha.  I know many of you are experiencing colder temps than down here ~ I hope you are staying warm!

Next Friday is National Wear Red Day.  I'd like to take a moment to talk about this.  Of course I like any holiday that is somewhat fashion related, but this is important because it is bringing awareness to the number one killer of women in the US: heart disease.  I'm a bit of a health fanatic, and it saddens me that so many women die of heart disease when it can be prevented through healthier eating and exercise.  I won't preach about that here, but do me a favor and make at least one healthier choice this upcoming week, such as choosing grilled chicken over fried or subbing a salad for fries.  Your body will thank you for it. :)

Yellow + Gray

Yellow and gray are one of my favorite color combinations.  There's just something about the juxtaposition of gloomy gray with sunny yellow. 

It may be hard to tell in the pictures, but this scarf has anchors on it!  How cute is that?

White Out

I briefly touched on the idea of doing a monochromatic look in this post and this is probably the closest I will get to doing that (unless I try an all black outfit sometime in the future...).  I love the freshness of wearing white and I paired it with the leopard belt and tan boots to keep the overall look neutral.  It turned out better than I expected.  Of course, I had to throw in a bit of color with my bag.  I just love color too much to leave it out. :)

This is my little baby, Max.  He is the sweetest dog!  He may show up on the blog on occasion. :)

Vacation Bound!

Good morning!  At this time tomorrow I will be on my way to Belize for a week of relaxation with my sweet hubby and his parents.  It's our first trip out of the country together and I'm so excited!  Belize looks so beautiful in all of the pictures and videos I've seen and I can't wait to see it for myself.  I have a few posts scheduled to publish while I'm gone, but I might have to make a post or two of Belize pics while we're there.  If I don't get a chance to do that, I will definitely be posting pics to Instagram, so be sure to follow me there!  Have a great rest of the week! :)

Chambray + Sequins

This is a milestone post ~ it's the first one in which I am wearing heels!  I got the somewhat good news on Friday at PT that I could wear heels for very short periods of time, and I think he agreed to that only because it's like the 5th time I've asked, haha.  So while I still can't wear heels on a daily basis, I can at least use them to accessorize my outfit posts. :)  I should be able to wear heels more consistently in about 2 months.

As I've mentioned before, I love a good sparkly piece of clothing, especially skirts!  I also love to wear them more often than just for special occasions.  One way to get away with that is to dress it down a bit (of course you can also wear it in all of its sparkly glory even if it's not a special occasion ~ there is nothing wrong with that!).  For this post, I've opted to dress it down with a chambray jacket.  This is a nicer version of your typical jean jacket so it's dressy enough to look great with the skirt.

Stripes

I love wearing stripes.  Being short, I have to be careful to make sure they look flattering, but fortunately for the most part that hasn't been much of an issue.  The striped shoes I'm wearing are the ones I mentioned in this post that I got from Bass Pro Shop!

Simplicity

When I put together this outfit, I thought that a simple white button up would be the best combo with the intricate lace-like pattern on the skirt and the cool cutout design on the purse.  Looking back at these pics, I like them, but I also think that I could have added a little something more, such as a blazer or cardigan.  This is part of the reason I started this fashion diary ~ not only to document what I wear, but learn how I can improve the way I style my clothes. :)

TGIF!  The first full week of working after the holidays is challenging!  Ha ha...

When I first saw this sweater, I thought the heart pattern was so fun.  After pairing it with the red pants, I realized this could also be a great Valentine's Day look that's not too obvious.  Then throw on a leather jacket and leopard scarf when you go out to give it an edge.
