TST: Fab Florals

So, I know this post is really late, but better late than never I always say! ;-)  I have had a hard time keeping up with the blog the past 2 weeks, but hopefully it will be better going forward!  As I've said before, if only this was my main job... haha!

Anyways, I'm a big fan of skorts.  It's hard to find them in regular stores (I think golf stores tend to carry them more but they are overpriced there in my opinion).  I love them for going to concerts, especially outdoor ones where you have sit on the ground.  They offer the cuteness of a skirt but you don't have to worry about flashing anyone when you sit!  This outfit is, in my opinion, the perfect ensemble for an outdoor concert and/or music festival.  I'm going to a 3-day one in a few months, so I need to figure out what I'm going to wear!

I love the cute buttons along the edge.  I found this awesome bag in Chinatown many years ago when I was in San Francisco.  It's been one of my fave bags to take to concerts ~ crossbody bags are the best for that because you can just throw them on and not have to deal with them sliding off your shoulder.

Thrift Style Thursday: Hats!

Unfortunately I do not own a thrifted hat, but I love hats and still wanted to participate this week.  This dress is thrifted though!  I love that it looks like a blouse and skirt, but is effortless as one piece.  I think this is one of my favorite outfits to date.

I have some weird tan lines going on with my feet right now, haha.  These shoes are about 6 years old, but still one of my all time favorites.

Thrift Style Thursday: Nineties Nostalgia

Oh the 90's ~ a time of interesting fashion that is making a surprising comeback nowadays with crop tops and high waisted bottoms (not really a fan of either, haha).  I do like plaid though and a plaid top like the one below reminds me of the 90's.  Also check out these sweet shades that I found.  :)

This awesome mural is painted on the side of a cute little ice cream shop that opened recently a few blocks from where I live.  I love finding little gems like this around the city.  And even though cassette tapes were on their way out in the 90's, I thought it was cool that the mural had one!  I mean, what are the odds?  It was just too perfect for this week's theme.

Thrift Style Thursday: Brilliant Blazers

Happy Thursday, friends!  This week's theme is the blazer.  I think this little Jackie O. style jacket that I found is considered a blazer. :)  It seemed only fitting that I wear some big Jackie O. sunglasses with it!  I found both this jacket and dress on my last thrifting trip.

My fave part about this outfit ~ it goes from work to evening out simply by removing the jacket!  I love the textured layers in this dress.

I was really excited about my find for this week's TST!  It's a cute sundress with a funny beach themed pattern.  It has pockets too, which is a major bonus!  I wanted to take these pics at the beach, but unfortunately the weather was not cooperating.  Oh well. :)

And speaking of cute and quirky (ok, maybe less cute and more quirky), last Saturday was the Houston Art Car Parade!  It's a fun event where people have done crazy artistic things with their cars (or built a car from scratch) and show it off in a parade.  People come in from all over the country and it's the largest art car parade in the nation!  In fact, Houston is the art car capital.  Pretty cool, huh?  Here is a sneak peek of a few funny cars that I saw.  Come back tomorrow for a round up of my favorite ones!

Thrift Style Thursday: Cocktail Dress

Happy Thrift Style Thursday!  This week's theme is the cocktail dress.  I love dressing up and I think a good party dress is one of the most fun things to wear on a night out.

I had the opportunity to help my sister-in-law and her family move a few weeks ago and while she was unpacking her clothes, she decided to purge items she no longer wears.  This dress was one of a couple cute items that I snatched up from her.  I love shopping my friends' closets - they all have great style. :)

Since I almost always have to have some color with what I wear, I added a pink clutch, blue earrings and polka dot shoes.  These shoes are one of my favorite pairs and I recently gave them new life by getting the soles and heels fixed at a shoe hospital.  I highly recommend doing that for nice shoes that may appear to be nearing the end of their life.  I've had these for probably about 6 years now, and I expect to have them for at least another 6 with the new heel bottoms and soles.
