Red, White and Blue

I think I've said this before, but I love dressing up for holidays and special occasions!  The 4th of July is no exception!  I've been wearing a lot of red, white and blue lately with cheering on the USA in the World Cup.  How exciting is it that we've made it to the Round of 16, especially since they didn't give us a chance to make it out of the group of death!  Today we play Belgium ~ it is going to be a tough matchup.  I really hope we play way better than we did against Germany!

I even have stars and stripes covered with this outfit. :)

Check in tomorrow for 2 more patriotic outfit ideas!

TST: Fab Florals

So, I know this post is really late, but better late than never I always say! ;-)  I have had a hard time keeping up with the blog the past 2 weeks, but hopefully it will be better going forward!  As I've said before, if only this was my main job... haha!

Anyways, I'm a big fan of skorts.  It's hard to find them in regular stores (I think golf stores tend to carry them more but they are overpriced there in my opinion).  I love them for going to concerts, especially outdoor ones where you have sit on the ground.  They offer the cuteness of a skirt but you don't have to worry about flashing anyone when you sit!  This outfit is, in my opinion, the perfect ensemble for an outdoor concert and/or music festival.  I'm going to a 3-day one in a few months, so I need to figure out what I'm going to wear!

I love the cute buttons along the edge.  I found this awesome bag in Chinatown many years ago when I was in San Francisco.  It's been one of my fave bags to take to concerts ~ crossbody bags are the best for that because you can just throw them on and not have to deal with them sliding off your shoulder.

Peplum and Pattern Mixing

We had a mini cold front come through last week, but now I think the warm weather is here to stay.  It's definitely warm enough now to break out the shorts.  I went a little crazy with the pattern mixing in this outfit: striped shorts, floral top and leopard purse.  It's cool how it can all come together and create a cohesive outfit.  I've been playing around with pairing different patterns together lately.  It's fun to push the envelope and see which ones you can successfully combine.

I'm happy that peplum is still popular.  The look is so flattering for any body type!  I feel like it is going to become one of those classic looks that is around for a long time.

Thrift Style Thursday: Athletic Aesthetic

Welcome to my second edition of Thrift Style Thursday! This week's theme was Athletic Aesthetic!  I honestly was stumped at first at what I was going to do for this.  Then I came across this cute baseball tee at one of the thrift stores while I was searching for pastels last week.  I decided to do a loosely themed baseball outfit.  (And please excuse my very pink cheeks... I was trying out a new blush color and it turned out much darker than I expected in the pics, hehe!)

My hubby was giving me a hard time about wearing jewelry for an athletic look.  My response: I still have to dress it up since I'm not actually playing. :)  By the way, I borrowed the bat from my brother-in-law, who tried out for our local minor league baseball team this past weekend!  He should find out soon whether he made it ~ fingers crossed he did.  That would be so exciting for him and it would be fun to go watch him play!

Please be sure to check out all the other lovely ladies and their athletic looks!

Island Casual

Island prints are a lot of fun to wear, but hard to pull off everyday... unless you live in Hawaii! :)  I saw this shirt on sale not long after I found out we were going to be traveling to Belize.  What perfect timing and a good excuse to buy it.  This type of ensemble is great for a day at the beach or lounging by the pool on a summer day.  I know summer seems like a long way off for many of you (temps have actually been in the high 70's for us the past few days ~ a nice break from the cold), but it's never too early to start planning for (or at least dreaming of) warm weather.

I want to try to incorporate this top into an everyday casual look to see if I can pull it off.  I will report back if I succeed!
