Striped Maxi with Chambray

When I put this outfit together in my head, I was really hoping I could pull it off because none of this clothing is maternity!  While I have finally embraced maternity clothing and am consistently wearing it, I still like to work in the chunky sweaters and stretchy tops that still fit the bump somehow.  I still plan on wearing items from my pre-preggers wardrobe as long as they will fit, to give me more options.  The chambray button-up definitely wouldn't fit if I had to button it, but it works like this over another top! :)

Hello and happy almost 4th of July!  Here are a couple more outfit inspirations for you!  It's the same jacket and shoes in both, but I swapped out the plain white shirt and red jeans for a star patterned shirt and red skirt.

How fun are these very patriotic shoes?!  You gotta love DSW ~ they have the best shoes!

TST: Fab Florals

So, I know this post is really late, but better late than never I always say! ;-)  I have had a hard time keeping up with the blog the past 2 weeks, but hopefully it will be better going forward!  As I've said before, if only this was my main job... haha!

Anyways, I'm a big fan of skorts.  It's hard to find them in regular stores (I think golf stores tend to carry them more but they are overpriced there in my opinion).  I love them for going to concerts, especially outdoor ones where you have sit on the ground.  They offer the cuteness of a skirt but you don't have to worry about flashing anyone when you sit!  This outfit is, in my opinion, the perfect ensemble for an outdoor concert and/or music festival.  I'm going to a 3-day one in a few months, so I need to figure out what I'm going to wear!

I love the cute buttons along the edge.  I found this awesome bag in Chinatown many years ago when I was in San Francisco.  It's been one of my fave bags to take to concerts ~ crossbody bags are the best for that because you can just throw them on and not have to deal with them sliding off your shoulder.

What I'm Wearing
Top - Target
Skort - thrifted
Shoes ~ Bongo
Earrings ~ Betsey Johnson
Necklace ~ gift
Bag ~ Chinatown in SF

Black + Gold

I've noticed I'm on a black and white kick lately.  It's hard to go wrong with this classic color combo.  Throw in some gold and it's instantly more glam.  How cute is this little clutch that my best friends got for me because I am obsessed with hedgehogs?  It's not practical at all ~ I can barely fit anything in it ~ but it's so cute and is quite the statement piece!  I love it and besides, fashion is rarely practical. ;-)

What I'm Wearing
Top ~ Limited, similar
Skirt ~ Limited, longer option
Shoes ~ Sole Society
Earrings ~ Urban Outfitters, similar
Clutch ~ Kate Spade (vintage)

Thrift Style Thursday: Hats!

Unfortunately I do not own a thrifted hat, but I love hats and still wanted to participate this week.  This dress is thrifted though!  I love that it looks like a blouse and skirt, but is effortless as one piece.  I think this is one of my favorite outfits to date.

I have some weird tan lines going on with my feet right now, haha.  These shoes are about 6 years old, but still one of my all time favorites.

What I'm Wearing
Dress ~ Loft, thrifted
Shoes ~ Steve Madden
Bag ~ WHBM
Necklace ~ Tiffany & Co.
Bracelet ~ groopdealz (similar)

I can't wait to check out how the other lovely TST ladies styled their hats!

An Old Skirt

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend!  We went camping over the weekend, and while the weather was gorgeous in Houston, it was rainy where we were northwest of Austin.  We ended up leaving a day early which was a bummer, but a flash flood warning is nothing to risk when you're camping!  Luckily it cleared up enough on Sunday afternoon for the Memorial Day festivities that they had at the park where we were staying.  It was a nice reminder of why we celebrate Memorial Day and gave us a chance to remember those that have served and are currently serving in the military.  I truly appreciate their sacrifices that allow us to have our freedoms.

Unfortunately it seemed the rain followed us home and it rained most of the day yesterday, so we stayed inside and caught up on TV shows.  It was very relaxing.

Interesting fact about this skirt: I got it back in middle school!  So let's see, that would date it to about 1997.  It's one of those pieces that I tend to forget about, but when I pull it out of my closet I'm always like why haven't I been wearing this more?!  I think I got it at Sears, and it must be decent quality because it's lasted about 17 years.  Gosh, I can't believe it's that old!

Skirt ~ Exact Change, similar here and here

Easter Outfit

Good morning!  I hope you all had a great Easter!  We had a fun time celebrating with my husband's family.  The bluebonnets were still looking gorgeous this weekend when we went up to their land out in the country, so we used them as a background again. :)

I love this floral bodice top from WHBM, but I was hesitant to wear it work because it was sleeveless.  I didn't like how it looked with a cardigan since it covered up the floral pattern.  Then I realized I could wear a long sleeve shirt underneath it!  Perfect solution.  I mentioned this bag in my last Style Swoons post (which you should check out if you haven't, especially the Shirk Report link) and since it was on sale for 50% off (I think it still is, check out the link at the end of the post), I decided to go ahead and get it.  It's a little bigger than the usual bag I carry, but I just love the lace detail on the front of it.

These guys love going up to the country property where they can run around and play all they want!
